Herb was an ordained Orthodox Rabbi with
a Ph.D. in Religion in Late Antiquity
(Judaism & Christianity) who came to the
Lord some eight years ago. He is
now an ordained Pastor. He
currently serves the the Merced County
Rescue Mission as Chief Executive
Officer, wherein he is responsible for
the total operation of the Mission.
A noted teacher for the staff members of
300+ Missions that comprise the
Association of Gospel Rescue Missions,
Herb has previously worked in the NYC,
Albany NY, Bridgeport Connecticut Rescue
Missions. He is also a Research
Fellow at the Graduate Colloquia for
Biblical and InterTestamental Studies.
In his prior life, Herb was pulpit
rabbi, ecclesiastical judge, Exec. V.P.
& Professor of Jewish Law and Lore of a
noted rabbinical seminary, visiting
Professor at various Ivy League
Universities, and Dean of a Graduate
Research Institute. He is , also,
a published author. Herb is a
member of the Society of Biblical
Literature, American Academy of
Religion, and the Evangelical
Theological Society.
At the behest of Rep. Leo Zeferetti,
Herb, also, served a two-year term as
Spiritual consultant to the U.S. House
of Representative's Select Committee on
Drug and Alcohol abuse. He has
opened the U.S. House of Representatives
in prayer.
In Merced, Herb is active in communal
affairs. He has been appointed by
the Merced County Board of Supervisors
to a four-year term on its Advisory
Board on Alcohol and Other drug Problems
and to its Advisory Board on Mental
Health Issues. He is a member of
the Board of Directors of the Merced
County Food Bank and serves on the
Leadership Team of our local ministerial
association, the Churches of Merced.
Herb is active in the Evangelical
Covenant Church of America and has
contributed Devotionals to its national
Home Altar Devotional series.
