Whenever the Mission appeals for a special project and that need is met, the remainder of funds goes into our general operating funds to provide programs and services for our homeless men, women and children.

Your entire contribution is received by the Merced County Rescue Mission.  Your continued support is greatly appreciated.

Our History

Merced County Rescue Mission

Men's Division

Emergency Shelter

Accommodating up to 30 men, there are two programs at the Men's Division.  The Emergency Shelter includes an 15-bed dormitory, a community room, a chapel, a dining room and kitchen.

Services provided daily include:

Hot nutritious meals
Clean clothing
Clean beds and hot showers
Nightly chapel services and evangelism

Men that are clean and sober may stay at the Mission for 5 nights in, but then must be out for 5 nights before staying again.  Help is given on a first come, first served basis.  Anyone wishing to stay at the shelter must provide show a picture ID, be at the mission at a prescribed time, stay after dinner for evening chapel, etc.  Please call Dean Thiner for more information at 209-722-9269

Men who have been homeless for some time generally have difficulty finding work and staying employed.  Those who desire additional help in becoming self-sufficient can apply for our New Life Transformation Program.  Applicants are screened to determine their level of commitment and their capacity to benefit from the program.   Discipleship training consists of intensive Christian instruction along with work therapy designed to develop self-discipline, a solid work ethic, and accountability.
